Actually, at least 3 people must have voted it down, cause at some point it was showing +2, which means that someone must have voted it up.
On my own list I'd probably add Shaumyan, Atabekyan, Mikael Nalbandyan, Smbat Zarekhavantsi, Paradjanov, Charenc, Gurdzhiev, Vazgen I, Ervand Kochinyan, Kasparov, Tigran Petrosyan, Levon Aronyan, Viktor Hambartsumyan, Shaamir Shaamiryan, Steven Zalian, Archil Gorky, Karen Shakhnazarov, Robert Sahamyants, Atom Egoyan, Christaphor Mikaelyan, Monte Melkonian etc etc etc -- the list goes on and on... but what's the point of this list? Why not put an average good proletarian man, who is not in history textbooks -- why not put him at the top of the list? Why not do something today and put yourself at the top of the list, instead of finding comfort in ghosts and illusions of historiographies? Have we not been compiling these kinds of lists for much too long? The very fact that we do compile these kinds of lists indicates our weakness, rather than strength ... it's as if we desperately try to search though the past and find something... but what exactly?
And what are these kinds of lists supposed to represent? In this day and age Kim Kardashian, Raquel Darrian and Jack Kevorkian are more talked about than Mesrob Mashdotz and Komitas.
...and by the way, Griqor Lusavoritch wasn't Armenian.
(but this post gave me a good idea -- maybe there should be Polls on khosq.com, and people can vote for their their favourite names or whatever. But for that to work there must be tens of thousands of people registered)

- i'll tell the prehistory. there was a similar survey russa-wide, & in the current results stalin was #1!!! @some point pushkin left top 10 of russia! & the top 10 itself was quite controversial. we had fierce debates in lj.. many were shocked how can stalin be #1, when he did so much evil to russia & its ppl & not only, to the whole "soviet" empire. & he was no russian even. many russians were answering that he's the symbol of strong statehood, rule & control over huge land, & many russians today r eager for such a figure, etc. then there were lotsa post calling ppl to vote for pushkin & other normal ppl to "clear" the top 10 & russa's face. armenian bolggers were also actively involved in those discussions, & one of us suggested to do the same survey among armenians & see who r today's aremanians' heroes, enough criticizing others.
but to tell the truth, i like the results, all the personalities named are very positive for armenians, the list is more cultural, involving names from literature, music, arts.. i'd say armenian society is not sick as the russian one.

interesting to know the background story. I wonder which place did Dostoyevski, Vysotski and Lenin occupie? And what was the *exact* question that was asked in the survey?
Nevertheless posting it on khosq.com like this, does indeed seem a bit out of context and doesn't really make much sense, which is probably why 5 people already voted it down.
It's not surprising to see Stalin being top-of-the-pops in Russia considering many of Putin's own very Stalinist changes - including the promotion of "personality cult" and the idea of strong statism at the expense of individual and civic freedoms. And I'm glad to see that Armenians would choose cultural and intellectual figures (in literature, music and film... though only very few scientists) rather than despots and dictators.
But still, compiling lists like these, in my personal opinion, is not really healthy -- it shows weakness, rather than strength or the Will to power. And it's very pop and sensationalist type of survey, not to mention cheap and populist.
