ARMENIA'S FUTURE IS IN DANGER...

SOS ARMENIA

Sevan lake

On August 21, 2008 the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted a decision to increase the volume of water release from Lake Sevan up to 360 mln. cubic meters (instead of 170 mln. cubic meters of previous years established by law).

According to the opinion of independent scientists duplication of the volume of released water from Lake Sevan is impermissible and dangerous for the lake. Climate conditions during 2008 have not been as unfavorable as to generate a need for a measure. While, the declared increase of demand for irrigation water is not justified adequately.

Once again the Armenian authorities prove their anti-national nature...

Once again the publicly-owned resources are sacrificed to satisfy the interests of a group of people...

Once again the coalition parties that pretend to serve national interests, particularly the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, have demonstrated unprincipled and self-seeking behavior.

Meanwhile, the real reasons for the increase of intake from Sevan are obvious – the authorities try to save from being sunk the illegal buildings of a group of oligarchs. As for how and by whom the additional volumes of released water are used - raises certain doubts.

ARMENIA'S FUTURE IS IN DANGER...

Today Lake Sevan and Teghut forests are being destroyed,

Tomorrow the mines and biological resources will be exploited,

while the intended extraction of uranium will be devastating for the country.

The turn of the 20th century

was marked by the genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.

The 21st century has begun

with a 'white' massacre conducted by native authorities...

LET'S SAVE OUR COUNTRY !

Crime is committed with our tacit agreement.

Silence implies agreement!

Very true.

Hrazdan - Sevan Hydro-Power cascade

Bruce Tasker's picture

The Hrazdan gas-powered electricity generating station has been privatized and the price of gas has gone up. Hydro-power costs about 2 cents per kilowatt, compared to 10 or 12 cents for gas-powered electricity.

So the "Russian Investors", together with their Armenian cronies, will cut back on the use of the Hrazdan gas-powered generating station, charge for the gas but not use it, increase on the 2 or 3 hours the hydro-cascade has typically been used each day, and provide predominantly hydro-generated electricity.

The tunnel linking the Vorotan river to the Sevan lake was completed two or three years ago to provide the massive amounts of water needed for this well-planned money-spinner.

So, if I understand you

Armen Filadelfiatsi's picture

So, if I understand you correctly, Bruce, you are saying that they are going to continue to charge the people the gas production rate of about 11 cents/kw, while, in fact, switching to a generation rate of 2 cents/kw. Am I right?

Let me just say this, that if the FSB reigned these crazies in a little bit, there would be many who would not be so critical of their slaves, i.e. the "crazies," i.e. Kocharian, Sargsyan, et al.

This is how they do it

Bruce Tasker's picture

Armen,

I spent an entire year inside what is known as the 'quagmire', the governments pit of corruption, studying how they do it, for the Parliament.

The point I make about increasing use of the recently privatized hydro-cascade is inevitable. The second point I make about claiming for the gas they will not use is a bit speculative. But knowing how they operate, it is one of a variety of ways they continually use their authority to make hundreds of millions of dollars each year - always at the expense of the under-privileged.

The last I knew, the 'charging rate' for electricity, or the rate at which they sell it to the grid, was 12 - 15 cents per kilowatt, and there are special concessions for hydro-generation.

With respect to being "critical of their slaves, i.e. the "crazies," i.e. Kocharian, Sargsyan, et al", they are behind all of these operations, working through and/or in the guise of "Russian Investors"
